Abstract

Yoruba Orthography is a course being offered in some Colleges of Education in Southwest, Nigeria with established minimum standards. Over the years, previous studies have used variables like environmental, psychological and personal factors to investigate the gloomy outlook of pre-service teachers' attitude to Yoruba orthography but none or little study investigated Yoruba Word Paper Puzzle & Yoruba Word Digital Puzzle and pre-service teac eachers' attitude to Yoruba orthography. It is on that premise that this study examined the effect of Yoruba Word Paper Puzzle & Yoruba Word Digital Puzzle on pre-service teachers' attitude to Yoruba orthography. The study used quasi-experimental research design. Colleges of Education Yoruba pre-service teachers in Southwest were randomly selected. Three research hypotheses were tested in the study at 0.05 level of significance. The Researchers used Atojo ?beere Iwadii fun Akekop Akoto Ede Yoruba (AIAAY) and instructional guides for data collection, AllAAY was trial tested and found reliable with 65 coefficient, Result showed that null hypothesis one (F891; p-424>0.05), two (F244; p-785>0.05) and three (F2.244: p=.098>0.05) were hereby not rejected. Findings revealed that Yoruba Word Paper Puzzle & Yoruba Word Digital Puzzle did not have a significant main effect on students' attitude to Yoruba orthography. The study recommended that periodic workshops, seminars and conferences should be organized for Yoruba language teachers in order to introduce them to the use of novel, tested, interactive and learner-centred game-based language learning packages.
