Abstract

This study examined English Language teachers' job satisfaction and commitment to teaching in selected senior secondary schools in Ado Ekiti, Nigeria. The survey research design was adopted. All the 15 secondary schools in Ado Ekiti were enumerated. Four English Language teachers were randomly selected from each school to make a total sum of 60 teachers. Instruments used were: Teachers' Job satisfaction Questionnaire (r=0.72) and Teachers' Commitment to Teaching Questionnaire(r=0.76). Data were analysed using descriptive statistics. Findings revealed that teachers job satisfaction (mean=2.93) and commitment to teaching ( mean =3.27) were high as against the threshold of 2.50. Based on the findings, it is recommended that all incentive schemes that teachers are enjoying should be sustained by Ekiti State Government for sustained high job satisfaction and commitment to teaching
