Abstract
This paper examines the role of critical literacy in fostering sustainable governance in Nigeria in the 21st century. The paper argues that the developmental challenges facing Nigeria could be surmounted if critical literacy is in place. It was therefore, recommended, among others, that government, mass media, educationists, parents and professional bodies should make concerted efforts towards building critical literacy skills in order to give rise to sustainable governance in Nigeria.
