Abstract

This paper discussed the significance of science education in the development of the nation. It examined the state of science teaching and learning in the country. The security challenges of the' nation emanating from social and economic realities were discussed. The transformation programme of the government was also discussed. The paper recommended among others improvement in the teaching and learning of science with which the problems of unemployment and poverty which are serious impediments to national development could be reduced.
