Abstract

The main thrust of this paper is to explore the possibilities of using Social Studies Education to cultivate a sustainable healthy environment among Nigeria youths. It begins with the need for sustainable environment, followed by conceptual framework and the necessity for environment education. The papers critically assess environment education objectives and role in Social Studies in relation to healthy environment and the role of Social Studies in promoting healthy environment. In realizing the objectives of the subject, recommendations are provided towards re-engineering the subject.
